Discovery Evening
Canada's Aboriginal peoples have deep botanical and ecological knowledge that they have gained over thousands of years of using the Boreal Forest as grocery, pharmacy, school, and spiritual centre. With the Boreal Forest facing increasing threats from climate change, habitat loss and fragmentation, and invasive species, this knowledge and indigenous peoples' sacred connection to the land is also threatened. This presentation will highlight different uses of plants by indigenous people as well as the social-cultural significance of the boreal region.
