This listing is not a Nature Manitoba outing. It is a Wilderness Committee outing and an outing Nature Manitoba wishes to support by advertising.

The Wilderness Committee is holding a witness tour along the lower Bird River, a beautiful natural area in need of protection and we are need of people to participate. We will be paddling by canoe or kayak along the river and lunch will be provided. There are two portages, one of which is 300m. Participants need to be able to carry their canoe that far over uneven ground, that is the only difficulty. The average paddling speed is around 5km per hour, and the shortest distance, which means the first available takeout, is 10 km. So participants need to be able to paddle for about 2 hours over the course of 6 hours.
