Location: The Cedar Bog trail is located off North Drive in Birds Hill Park.  When entering the park off Hwy #59, Cedar Bog Trail is the first trailhead on North Drive.  Watch for the sign to the parking lot.

Time: Meet in the Cedar Bog parking lot in time to begin hiking at 11:00 AM.

Description: The Cedar Bog trail is a gentle 3.5 km hike.  The trail gradually descends across grasslands and areas of aspen and oak trees to a stand of eastern white cedar and the boggy area.  Last fall a boardwalk was installed across the bog, so it is easier to avoid mud and water in that area.  After the cedar bog, the trail gradually climbs back to the parking lot.  There is at least one picnic table in a grove beside the trail, and several good bird watching locations.  The trail has been hard-packed by walkers all winter, and is generally an easy walk.  Please dress for conditions on March 30.  Boots with good traction are recommended.  The trail could be icy, snowy and/or wet.  With stops, the hike will likely take about 1½ hours.

Lunch at Pineridge Hollow: We have a reservation for up to 20 people for 1:00 PM at Pineridge Hollow.  They plan to seat us at two tables with up to 10 people at each table.  If you want to go for lunch, please say so when you register.  The first 20 people who register and indicate that they want to go for lunch will be guaranteed a reserved spot. If more than 20 people wish to go for lunch, I will check with Pineridge Hollow at noon on Monday to see if there is additional seating available.  For information about Pineridge Hollow, including the menu, please see pineridgehollow.com/pages/restaurant.
