Noxious Weed Pull

*** postponed to Wednesday, August 22nd at 6:30 p.m. — meeting location the same ***

Supported by a Walmart/Evergreen Green Grant, Friends of Birds Hill Park is working with the Invasive Species Council of Manitoba (ISCM) to control leafy spurge and spotted knapweed in Birds Hill Park. We are hosting a noxious weed pull on Wednesday evening, August 15 (postponed to Aug. 22nd) starting at 6:30pm. Volunteers are needed to pull this plant and stop its spread.  Meet at the main campground parking lot, off south drive.

Your participation will benefit the natural environment and will help to enhance the park experience for all visitors.  Landowners will benefit from participating by learning to identify spotted knapweed and by reducing the number of seeds carried by air, critters and people onto properties in surrounding areas.

Enjoy a Walk with Friends

At 6 pm on Thursday August 16 botanist Chris Friesen will take us on a search for rare plants and will share his wisdom on the conservation and recovery of native Rough Agalinis and Western Silvery Aster.  Have fun with Friends while you learn to distinguish these rare species from common plants.  Meet at the park-side parking area of Pine Ridge Hollow.

To register for either or both of these events (and be notified of cancellation due to poor weather) please email info@friendsofbirdshillpark.ca OR call Shannon at 204-783-4249.
