Presentation:

Pollinators, Plants & People – Connecting Brandonites with Manitoba’s Grasslands

Description:

Native pollinators and plants are essential to a healthy ecosystem but urban dwellers may not know that they can make a difference to our biodiversity here in Manitoba. This talk highlights the diversity of native pollinators found in Manitoba and the native plants that they rely on and why they matter. Learn how Bee City Brandon works to raise awareness and share simple local ways residents can help the ‘little ones that rule the world’.

Presented By:

Sherry Punak-Murphy is the Chairperson of Bee City Brandon and a range biologist who has worked in Manitoba’s mixed-grass prairie for over 30 years. She is passionate about all insects—especially native pollinators—and loves helping people understand why they matter and how native plants play a key role in supporting them. An avid iNaturalist user, Sherry enjoys learning from and sharing observations with the community. If it crawls, flies, buzzes or looks a little misunderstood, Sherry is probably a fan and wants you to know all about them.

All are welcome and there is no charge to attend.
