The Living Prairie Museum is excited to host the 9th annual Monarch Butterfly Festival on Sunday, July 21st, from noon to 4 pm.
The festival is a free, family event that encourages butterfly conservation. Make your own butterfly wings, map your milkweed, and create a little piece of prairie in a pot. Guest speakers Cary Hamel (Nature Conservancy Canada), Jeff Marcus (University of Manitoba), and John Morgan (Prairie Habitats Inc.) will be sharing information about butterfly biology, conservation, and creating habitat. Learn about the place that many butterflies call home by taking a guided hike through the tall grass prairie preserve, bring your butterfly questions to “Ask an Entomologist”, and bring a t-shirt to make a one-of-a-kind festival souvenir. Free milkweed will be available!
