Description: A number of murals have sprouted around the City of Selkirk in recent years on a variety of themes. We will begin our walk at the east end of Manitoba Ave where there are 10 murals within a few blocks. We will then continue west along Manitoba Ave to the Gaynor Family Regional Library, where there are 2 more murals. One is inside and the newest mural, Sacred Spirits of Turtle Island MMIWG2S+, is outside set in the prairie. It is shaped like a turtle and each panel faces a different direction. This impressive mural is intended to provide a healing space for families of MMIWG2S+. The panels are painted in 4 colours – red, yellow, white and black. These represent the medicine wheel and the four seasons. A mask is required to see the indoor mural and access the bathrooms. We will return along Manitoba Ave and end at the Perilous Crossing Sculpture and interpretive panels at the waterfront near the parking lot. The total distance is 5.5 km.

Bring: Your name tag and a mask to access bathrooms at the library or restaurants afterward. Dress for the weather.

Lunch: Optional at the end of the tour. There are two restaurants on Manitoba Ave: Roxi’s On The Red Uptown Café and The Mighty Kiwi Juice/Smoothie Bar and Eatery
