Outdoor Activities: Grey Hares
Location: Wolseley Ave near Raglan Road (Omand’s Creek), in Wolseley.

Time: Meet at 9:45 AM, start cycling by 10:00 am, and return before 1:00 PM.
Description:
Winnipeg is crisscrossed by old creek beds, many of which are only visible as shallow dips in streets and parks.
Colony Creek was diverted in the late 1870s to protect the inner City from repeated flooding. This ride will follow the most recent diversion (Omand’s Creek), touching on where Colony Creek was diverted, and some of the other early attempts to redirect the waters. The route will trace the creek route downtown to find some of the remnants of outflows into the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. There will be a few stops along the way to note historical points related to Colony Creek & tributaries, infrastructure, and flood events. Although the route primarily follows active transportation trails and City of Winnipeg cycling routes, there are several places where there are gravel trails or single track, some sections on larger streets, and crossings of large streets.
Bring: A well-maintained bicycle, helmet, weather-appropriate clothing, your name tag, water, and an optional picnic lunch.
