Manitoba Bluebird Fund Tree Subsidy Program

Manitoba Bluebird Fund (MBF) was set up by Nature Manitoba with the goal of stopping the continuing decline in the number of songbirds in Manitoba, and to hopefully even see their numbers increase. One of the activities of the fund is to offer a financial incentive to Manitoba homeowners in order to encourage the planting of trees and/or shrubs on their property that will provide food and habitat for Manitoba songbirds.

Under this project, we are offering a financial incentive for Manitoba home owners to plant on their property fruiting trees or shrubs that will retain their fruit for the birds during the winter, and also provide habitat in the summer. The offer consists of the MBF offering a subsidy of up to $100 towards the purchase of an eligible tree. This offer is limited to one (1) tree per household and the subsidy is paid directly to the nursery.

For the 2024 campaign, the fund has budgeted to subsidize 100 trees, offered to Manitoba home owners on first come – first served basis. The eligible trees in this program are listed on the claim form, and must be purchased from the participating garden center below.

To apply for the tree subsidy please complete the application:  Tree Subsidy Application

Your application will be reviewed and if it qualifies, a claim form will be mailed to you (Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing).  Take it to our participating vendor and enjoy an instant discount when you pay for your tree (up to $100) within 6 months of receiving the form. Please note that the claim form can only be used for the current year it is applied for and cannot be carried over to the next year/years.
