2024 Nature Manitoba Fall Update

Dear Members,

It’s been a great year for Nature Manitoba. I wanted to start by thanking all of you - members, volunteers and employees. Together you make Nature Manitoba the great organization it is.

Many activities had an increase in participation.  For example, the Garden tour increased revenue by 34 percent and the Mantario summer program participation increased by 35 percent.  Outdoor hikes, Indoor programs and Grey Hares weekly activities continue to be popular. Beginner Birding introduced changes to limit participation to ensure a proper birding experience. The Important Bird Areas and Chimney Swift have been very active.

The Bluebird Committee adopted the annual grant process initially developed by the Habitat Committee. This Bluebird granting process will support initiatives to help songbirds.

Bridging the Gap (BTG) hired two new employees, Jamie Vann and Britt Ross to re-introduce active nature programming for inner city youth.

We welcomed new board members Nelson Chubey, an active NM birder, and Gillian Brennan, a NM Mantario lover.  Membership automation is under way and a dog policy was implemented.  We outsourced our bookkeeping activities to Zach Laberge. Tami Bradford implemented a NM advertising and promotion plan.

If you would like to make a donation this year, it would be appreciated.  You can click on the Donate Button on our website home page.  You can direct your donation to the program of your choice.  Thank you all for your continued support of Nature Manitoba.

This winter, the Board will develop a three-year strategic plan to identify and focus on our priorities for the future direction of Nature Manitoba.  We will continue to offer the excellent programming Nature Manitoba is known for.

I wish you well and hope that you enjoy your favourite nature activities!
