As of Jun 6, campsites have been reserved by 31 people. There are still available campsites, so people can still join.

This year's follow-up to the successes of car-camping / day-paddling / day-hiking  trips at Rushing River in 2022 (24 Grey Hares) and Caddy Lake in 2023 (32 Grey Hares) is a car-camping / day-paddling / day-hiking trip at Black Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park from Monday June 10 to Thursday June 13 (4 days / 3  nights).  Grey Hares last camped / paddled / hiked at Black Lake in 2019; here are some photos.

The Black Lake campground has 51 non-seasonal basic campsites, pit toilets, and well water is from one pump. The nightly camping fee is only $11.55 per site per night.  Campsite reservations open on Friday April 12, but there should be plenty of available campsites in the Black Lake campground on weeknights in mid June, and reservations may not even be required.

A Manitoba Provincial Park Vehicle Permit is required.

A lovely beach is located at the edge of the campground. It's a perfect canoe and kayak launch.

Key features of almost all Grey Hares camping trips include carpooling, sharing of campsites, canoe partnering, and cooperative suppers at Grey Hares' Eureka Northern Breeze screen tent.

Paddling and hiking activities include:

Kevin & Anita Miller -- register at k.a.miller@mts.net

Time: Meet before 9:30 AM. Launch before 10:00.

Launch location: [update] Launch from the intersection of Willowlake Crescent and Southbridge Drive on the east side of the Seine River. This is point #21 on the Paddling the Seine map.

Description: We will paddle a completely different section of the river than we paddled on May 29.
From the launch location, paddle upstream to no further than the Shorehill Bridge, have lunch, and then paddle downstream back to the launch location. Total distance is 15K if our turnaround location is the Shorehill Bridge. This is the south half of section 3 plus section 4 on the Paddling the Seine map. The Seine River within Winnipeg is fairly shallow and very popular, and there are dozens of potential locations to disembark if needed.
June 26 is National Canoe Day

Boats: If you don’t have a canoe or kayak, we can try to partner you with a canoe owner who is looking for a bow paddler.

Toilets: There aren't any at the launch site, and we don't know of any along our route, but there is a No Frills strip mall located ~500 metres from our planned lunch location.

Rating: Novice (bow paddler in the canoe of an experienced stern paddler) to intermediate.

Bring: Lunch, water, sunscreen, your name tag, and extra warm clothes.
