As of Jun 6, campsites have been reserved by 31 people. There are still available campsites, so people can still join.
This year's follow-up to the successes of car-camping / day-paddling / day-hiking trips at Rushing River in 2022 (24 Grey Hares) and Caddy Lake in 2023 (32 Grey Hares) is a car-camping / day-paddling / day-hiking trip at Black Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park from Monday June 10 to Thursday June 13 (4 days / 3 nights). Grey Hares last camped / paddled / hiked at Black Lake in 2019; here are some photos.
The Black Lake campground has 51 non-seasonal basic campsites, pit toilets, and well water is from one pump. The nightly camping fee is only $11.55 per site per night. Campsite reservations open on Friday April 12, but there should be plenty of available campsites in the Black Lake campground on weeknights in mid June, and reservations may not even be required.
A Manitoba Provincial Park Vehicle Permit is required.
A lovely beach is located at the edge of the campground. It's a perfect canoe and kayak launch.
Key features of almost all Grey Hares camping trips include carpooling, sharing of campsites, canoe partnering, and cooperative suppers at Grey Hares' Eureka Northern Breeze screen tent.
Paddling and hiking activities include:
- Paddle Black Lake.
In 2019 we did two days of paddling on Black Lake, a 15K day and an 18K day. - Hike the moderately challenging Black Lake trail. The trailhead is at the edge of the campground.
AllTrails
TripAdvisor - Hike the short but fairly steep Walking On Ancient Mountains trail. The trailhead is a 15-minute drive from the campground.
AllTrails
TrailForks - Paddle Rabbit River. The launch point is only 7 km / 7 minutes from the Black Lake campground. https://www.gov.mb.ca/sd/pubs/parks-protected-spaces/maps/nopiming_water...
