People passionate about nature

Mantario Wilderness Cabin

The Mantario Wilderness Cabin is located about 150 km northeast of Winnipeg, on an island on Mantario Lake (on the Manitoba and Ontario border), in the Mantario Wilderness Zone, on the east side of Whiteshell Provincial Park. It is operated by Nature Manitoba to meet one of the organization's primary objectives: to provide educational and recreational programs and field trips, which promote an understanding of the natural environment.

Nature Manitoba uses the cabin for its long-running Mantario Summer Program, as well as for member-led activities during all seasons of the year. Members and non-members can also rent the Mantario Cabin for personal trips.

Staying at the Mantario Wilderness Cabin

Visit the Mantario Cabin year-round! Whether you're attending our Summer Program, renting the cabin, or joining a group on a trip, we hope you enjoy the modest backcountry accomodations.

Getting to the Cabin

Whether cross-country skiing in the winter months, or canoeing and portaging the rest of the year, getting there is an adventure. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Manitoba's Whiteshell on a full-day journey there and back again.

Mantario Cabin History

Nature Manitoba's history dates back to 1973. The goal was (and still is) to provide a place where interest in nature could be nurtured and developed, and where people could enjoy a wilderness experience. Find out about Nature Manitoba's rich history in the Mantario area!
