They will be present from mid-morning at either site on most days from mid-March to mid-April, especially when it is sunny with a south wind.

Libau/Beaconia/Brokenhead Wetland

We will look for prairie, wetland and woodland birds north of Libau. Red-headed Woodpecker, Yellow-throated Vireo, Orchard Oriole, Bobolink, Nelson’s Sparrow, Virginia Rail and a variety of warblers, raptors and shorebirds are all possible. We will finish the outing with a walk along the boardwalk at the Brokenhead Wetland Ecological Reserve.

The Christmas Bird Count is an all-day census of early-winter bird populations sponsored by Bird Studies Canada in partnership with the Audubon Society. People across North America cooperate to count birds in their area between December 14th to January 5th.
